NouriLoop SMS Privacy Policy

This SMS Privacy Policy explains how John Houser (“NouriLoop,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the NouriLoop text-message (SMS) notification program.

1. The SMS program

NouriLoop sends account/transactional notifications to users who opt in. These are reminders and alerts about your own nutrition data, including:

• a reminder if you haven’t logged any meals by evening;
• a reminder when your health metrics are out of date;
• an alert when a day’s calorie total is unusually low or high;
• weekly suggestions when your nutrient intake runs low.

We do not send marketing or promotional text messages through this program.

2. Consent and opt-in

You opt in voluntarily by entering your mobile number and selecting “Text message” or “Email and text” on the Settings → Notifications page, and by agreeing to the consent statement shown there. By doing so you agree to receive recurring automated SMS notifications at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of using NouriLoop; email delivery is always available as an alternative.

3. Message frequency

Message frequency varies based on your activity and settings — typically up to one message per day, and not more than a few per week.

4. Cost

Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier and plan. NouriLoop does not charge for SMS notifications.

5. Opt-out and help

• Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe at any time. You will receive a one-time confirmation, after which we will send no further texts unless you opt in again.
• Reply HELP for help, or contact us at john@johnchouser.com / +1 (971) 498-6161.
• You can also turn SMS off at any time on the Settings → Notifications page.

Supported carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

6. Information we collect for SMS

• Your mobile phone number.
• Your notification preferences (channel and which notice types are enabled), your phone number, and the date and time you gave SMS consent.
• Delivery metadata (e.g., timestamps and delivery status) needed to send messages and prevent duplicates.
• The content of each notification, which is derived from data already in your NouriLoop account.

7. How we use this information

Solely to deliver the notifications you requested, to honor your STOP/HELP requests, to prevent duplicate messages, and to maintain and secure the service.

8. How we share it

• We share your mobile number and message content with our SMS provider, Twilio Inc., only as needed to transmit messages on our behalf.
• No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
• We do not sell your personal information.
• We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and the safety of users.

9. Data retention

We retain your phone number, SMS preferences, and consent record for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, and we delete or de-identify this data on account closure or valid request, subject to legal retention requirements.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information (e.g., under the CCPA/CPRA or GDPR). To exercise these rights, contact us at john@johnchouser.com.

12. Children’s privacy

NouriLoop and its SMS program are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy and will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes affecting SMS will be communicated before they take effect.
